Samsung Released the Official Test firmware for the Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 P5100 but they were not so stable. There were some issues like battery draining and force closing of the applications. After that Cyanogen Mod released the Nightly firmware which was also not found to be stable as it was containing Bugs.

Android 4.1.1 AOKP build 2 Jelly Bean 4.1.1 is now available for the download for the Giant handset P5100. This is the update with all the functionality i.e. every component of the OS is found to be working. This ROM is the Build on the Jelly Bean Platform with embedded Samsung S3 Interface. If you want to Install the Touch-WIZ interface Task Manager then you can simply Install the *.apk file of this.

Requirements :

    • Galaxy Tab Mobile Handset. Do not try on the Other Variants of Verizon and Sprint.
    • USB Cable
    • Do Make Sure you have the Proper Driver Installed. Gadget Serial Driver or Samsung KIES

        • Scroll down and tap “Developer options”.
        • Now check “USB debugging” from there

  • You Must have atleast 1GB of free SPACE in the Memory Card
  • Samsung Kies will not detect the phone because its built on the un-Official JZO54K Firmware.

 

How to Update Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 P5100 (WiFi + 3G) to Android 4.1.1 AOKP Build 2 Jelly Bean

How to Install ClockworkMod Recovery on Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 P5100 / P5110 / P5113

However, for beginners, you need to root your Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 and install a custom recovery. Please CHECK The above Link that up if you are unsure and read the entire tutorial once before actually performing it.

 

  • Download the AOKP Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean for TAB 2
  • Download the Google Apps package. This will install apps like Play Store, Gmail, etc. which are not present in the ROM by default.
    Download Gapps  |  Alternate Link  |  File-name: gapps-jb-20120726-signed.zip
  • Connect AND mount your Galaxy Tab 2 USB memory on your computer using the USB DATA CABLE
  • Copy the Downloaded file *.zip in the root of your Micro-SD card and the Google Play Files.
    • Switch off your Tablet. Now go to Download Mode. Know How?
    • This can be done by Pressing and holding the Volume Down  and then press the Power button repeatedly until you see the construction Android robot and a triangle. Press Power again to confirm to enter into Download Mode.
  • For ease of Installation, select the wipe/factory data Reset
  • Then, execute the listed Steps :
  1. Select install *.zip from SD-Card, then select choose zip from SD-Card. Navigate to Android 4.1.1 AOKP ROM.zip  you want to Install. Confirm installation by selecting Yes.
  2. After successful Installation of the ROM, select choose zip from SD-Card again, then select the gapps-jb-20120726-signed.zip file to install the Google Application package.
  3. After Google Application installation is complete, go back to the main recovery menu, select advanced, then select Fix permissions.
  • Then, select go back then select reboot system now to reboot the phone and boot up into AOKP Jelly Bean ROM. The first boot can take up to 5 minutes.

That’s all Your TAB 2 have been Upgraded to the Android 4.1.1 AOKP firmware installed. Just Navigate to Settings > About phone to verify the Currently Installed on the phone.

NOTE: As this is the not official Firmware and has limited Functionality but being on the safe side to make sure you know that after installing this firmware update, your can get FC errors, boot loops, several other bugs, apps might not work or worse, your phone might not boot. To fix, you will have to reinstall stock firmware.
